Forest City

Community Info

Forest City.

Forest City was platted in 1858 by Robert Clark. In 1915 the population was 3,030 and today it is 4,362. The “Great Hotel Fight” began in 1900 and divided the city into the Northerners and the Southerners. They both built hotels, The Summit and The Waldorf, which had 50 rooms each. In 1915 The Summit burnt and was not rebuilt, and in 1903 The Waldorf was made into a Christian Academy, known today as Waldorf College.
