There are sites and incentives available to current and new companies looking to expand or
develop in Winnebago and Worth Counties. The sites and incentives vary by community and county.
For instance, Winnebago County and Worth County are designated as an Enterprise Zone in Iowa, which means business
investments in the county may receive property tax exemptions and expanded state tax credits.
To receive benefits, businesses expanding or locating in Enterprise Zones must create at least
10 full-time jobs and maintain them for 10 years, pay 80% of standard employee medical & dental insurance plan or equivalent, pay 90% of average regional or county wage - whichever
is lower, make capital investments of at least $500,000, and not be a retail establishment.
Each county and community can also include incentives such as:
- tax abatement
- tax increment financing
- revolving loans
- utility hook-ups
