Scarville was platted in 1899 and named in honor of a Norwegian named Ole Scar
who became a prominent businessman and was the mayor and postmaster at Scarville
for several years.
Major town events included fires in 1934 and the early 60s that destroyed Main
Street buildings. A tornado in 2000 destroyed trees, garages and brought down
power lines. Scarville also used to house a department store, light plant, jail,
bank and grocery store.
